Located at a 100.5MW farm in West Virginia, the Beech Ridge device uses 18 1.8MW centralized BYD storage modules to provide ancillary service for the power station.

BYD topped more than 300 new energy projects nominated for the honor, which requires a rigorous process of review factoring in environmental impact and technical innovation.

“In nearly 10 years, BYD has gained abundant experience in developing and delivering innovative energy storage solutions. The Beech Ridge device is just one of the projects we are proud of.” said Micheal Austin, BYD America’s Vice President.

This is the latest prestigious award BYD ESS has won for an energy storage project. Earlier this year, an energy storage solution provided by BYD for the National Storage Demonstration Project in Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, received the “First Mover” award from DCTI. Previously, the 31.5MW/12.06MWh Grand Ridge Battery Storage Facility in Illinois received the “2015 Innovation Award for Centralized Storage”, and was awarded the “Best Renewable Project of the Year” by Power Engineering and Renewable Energy World Magazine.
