Heating Small Spaces With Solar Energy For The Do It Yourselfer

Energy saving is very important nowadays. That’s because the cost of fossil fuels keeps going up, which means the electric bills are also going up. Heating small spaces with solar energy is a good way to reduce your utility bills and our dependence on fossil fuels.

Solar energy is an energy produced by the sun’s radiance. The radiant light that the sun produces contains this energy. With modern technology, the energy can be absorbed by a solar panel. The panel can then change the sun’s energy to electricity.

Heating small spaces with solar energy is very convenient, especially in winter. You can make a solar heater to do this job or you can buy one on the market and install it immediately. If you don’t know how to install this type of heater, then here’s a step-by-step guide:

Materials Needed:

– Paint
– Solar Heater
– Drill
– Screws
– Glass

Steps:

1. Ready the paint. A high-temperature spray paint would be good for painting the entire heater. Paint it out in the open because the smell of the paint is strong. If your solar heater has a fan, do not spray any paint on it. Cover it with newspaper to keep from getting paint on it. Let the heater dry out in the sun.

2. Ready a piece of glass. A tempered glass or a plain glass will do the job.

3. Fasten the glass to the solar heater. You may use a strong glue to secure the glass on the heater perfectly. When you do, you mayhave to wait for an hour or so to let it dry.

4. Another way of attaching the glass to the heater is to use screws. To do this successfully, you need to drill holes in the glass. You will also need to drill holes in the heater. After drilling the holes, you can put the screws in.

5. Now, look for a window or a place in your house that gets the most sunlight. Place your heater in that spot, making sure that the glass is facing outside. The heater should start to work as soon as the sun lights the solar heater. If not, then you may have to find another place.

Now that you know the big advantage of using the sun’s radiant energy, then you can start using it. Heating small spaces with solar energy could be a great start for you.
