Solar City – We Are In Design Phase Now

Evan from Solar City was at the house the other day doing our evaluation of the structure of our house and roof for our solar power system install. This is the next phase in the project for getting our solar installed. That is Evan on the ladder in the image below. His job is come out to our house and measure the project location and make sure that the roof, supports, and inverter install location will all work properly.

He had to climb up into our attic space in order to measure the rafters and such. It is not a very roomy attic crawl space so I felt for him having to maneuver up there. Our house is almost 90 years old so there was some concern that it might need some work done to the roof before installing the solar panels. Shoring things up so to speak. But it appears we are OK and the design team (see the snippet of the email message I got today above) is now at work laying out our new system.

We have been told it could take a few weeks to do this part of the project and then we move on to the installation itself. We are looking forward to getting it done. I plan to shoot video of the install process so you can see how it works. So far the process has been very smooth and well detailed from Solar City in terms of keeping us informed about the steps and the paperwork.
