Solaroad Technologies Introduces the Next Generation of Solar Devices

Technologies Group, LLC headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, has rolled out a series of solar devices it says can revolutionize solar production as we know it making solar power far more competitive with carbon-based sources (oil, coal and gas). All devices are in final prototypes, ready for UL approval with full planning for manufacturing completed.

’s basic message is – the future of solar is not flat – it’s 3-dimensional.

The ElectraWallTM (US Patent Pending) system is a cylinder with a photovoltaic film exterior and a sealed lithium ion battery inside. It is encased in a clear plastic shell that also serves as a solar concentrator. Unlike flat solar panels, the cylinder does not require direct sunlight to generate electricity. It can generate power from first light before sunrise to last light after sunset. It will generate power on cloudy days, in rain squalls and snowstorms. It will even generate electricity using indoor light, vehicle headlights – virtually any lighting source.

applications.

can be mounted on top of any wall structure and can be sized and configured based on location and the wall’s weight bearing capabilities.

One concept that can be implemented almost immediately is connecting solar cylinder units, end to end atop Jersey walls and sound barriers along expressways. It would turn our Interstate Highway System into an Interstate System. It would have a major impact in making the United States independent.

is also in the first stages of installing a solar energy system for Smith Hall on the campus of Towson University. In addition to ElectraWall systems, this installation will include Watt Towers – “A” frame configurations consisting of 9 or more solar cylinders to be placed in sequence on the roof of the building.

Watt Towers can be used in commercial or residential applications. They are placed on flat roofs or pitch roofs and can provide a significant portion of a building’s daily energy requirement. When roof maintenance is required, Watt Towers can easily be detached and then reinstalled after work is completed.

Remote Electric Power.

Solaroad has also developed a solar power dock called the Grid Kicker. It is an “A” framed unit which can power anything from power tools and lighting to portable heaters, computers and refrigerators can be plugged into the device. The Grid Kicker can be folded up and carried like a suitcase. It has a wide range of uses from powering tools at construction sites to providing emergency power, to providing power in remote, off-the-grid, locations anywhere in the world.

In the development stages

Solaroad has patented a sprayable nano-based SolarFilm that creates electricity by using light, heat and magnetics. It can turn virtually any surface into a power generator from rooftops and walls to highways and parking lots. Our next step in development is scaling up the process for cost-effective manufacturing. In one scenario electric vehicles driving over a SolarFilm coated highway could be recharged using inductance powered by the highway.
