September 30, 2010—Despite extreme shifts in pricing, demand and governmental subsidies, the global photovoltaic market in 2011 will experience robust growth, with installations rising by 42.3 percent for the year, according to the market research firm iSuppli Corp.

California has been trying to drive clean energy standards with it's regulations and requirements for alternative energy production by its larger utilities in recent years. To date that number has been a 20% renewable standard which has been a struggle for the utilities to comply with so far.
