I am working with a local roofer who installs cool roofs. It is truly amazing how much it can make a difference in the amount of energy your house uses to cool in the summer. We installed a cool roof and now see the interior of our house never getting hot in the summer as it used it before the new coating on the roof. It is something you should check out.
